Separate a public-system problem from private-property damage
Water in a building may come from private plumbing, a roof or exterior opening, a shared building system, street flooding, or a public water or sewer problem. The responsible source must be identified and controlled before removal can produce a lasting result.
Long Beach Utilities lists 562-570-2390 for water and sewer emergencies. Street flooding, public drains and utility failures belong with the responsible City department. AWC’s scope begins on private property after safe access, source control and authorization are established.
- Call 911 for immediate threats to life, fire or structural safety.
- Do not walk or drive through floodwater to inspect a property.
- Do not operate electrical equipment while standing in water.
- Stop plumbing use when a sewer backup is suspected.
Long Beach access and authorization checklist
For a single-family home, confirm who can authorize the work and provide access. For an apartment, condominium, commercial unit or managed property, identify whether the source or affected materials cross unit or common-area boundaries. A tenant’s report alone may not authorize demolition, common-system work or permanent repairs.
Send the exact address, parking or loading restrictions, gate or elevator instructions, onsite contact, affected floor, available electrical service and proposed discharge location. These details determine whether the work is practical and safe; they are not a promise that AWC will accept the call.
A practical sequence after source control
Suitable standing water is removed only after the work area and discharge plan are accepted. Wet materials are then reviewed for removal, specialist cleanup or limited drying support. AWC’s two tested B-Air Vantage VG-2200 commercial dehumidifiers may be available for a suitable enclosed area, but equipment placement and duration require a separate agreement.
Sewage, chemical exposure, visible mold, asbestos concerns, unsafe structures, specialized structural drying, moisture mapping and clearance testing are outside this limited service. Those conditions need the appropriate qualified provider.
When the source is corrected and the affected assemblies are ready, AWC can scope construction repairs. We keep emergency work, specialist work and permanent repairs distinct so the owner knows what is authorized and what remains unresolved.
Request a fit check before planning around our arrival
For emergency availability, call 707-343-6753. For repair or rental requests, call or text 619-327-9513. Send the property address, water source, affected areas, current water depth, photos if safe, and the person authorized to approve work. AWC confirms coverage and scope before any visit; a call does not mean dispatch is confirmed.
Start with a complimentary photo review, usually the same day, or request a 15-minute site walk, typically within 48 hours. Timing depends on the property address and confirmed availability. This is an initial visual review of the damage and next steps. It does not include invasive investigation, moisture testing, clearance or repair work. Any chargeable investigation or work requires separate approval. Emergency water work is scoped and priced separately before it begins.
